For as far back as I can remember, I've had an interest in the spaces we live in and in homemaking.

As a young girl I spent a lot of time with one of my sisters designing and furnishing homes for Barbie dolls out of cardboard boxes. We enjoyed this more than dressing them in outfits. 

We were also re-arranging the family furniture all the time, something my mother tolerated amicably. Years later, when Mom was gone and Dad was elderly and living on his own, my sister and I were rearranging furniture still.

I would describe the home I share with my family as dynamic. Things are always changing to accommodate new needs or new interests or just because. Rooms have had so many incarnations I've lost track. What was the dining room became the living room and so on. I also move the paintings and other artwork around regularly. 

Our home is quite small – roughly 1500 square feet - so I decorate with an eye toward simplicity. I like spaces that are not overfilled and I have a serious impulse to declutter. I love blank spaces and the potential they hold. I'm happiest surrounded by things I love – meaningful objects, those that actively work for our family and objects from nature - flowers, stones and shells.
